Training & Workforce
Development
CPD-accredited training packages for schools, social care teams, and frontline organisations — building genuine, lasting capability in trauma-informed practice, mental health, and specialist safeguarding.
Equipping the people
around young people
The adults who work most closely with children and young people — teachers, teaching assistants, social workers, residential workers, foster carers — have an enormous influence on outcomes. When they are well-trained, well-supported, and working from a consistent, trauma-informed framework, the young people around them are more likely to feel safe, regulated, and able to engage.
Evolve Mental Health’s Training and Workforce Development service delivers CPD-accredited programmes that go far beyond tick-box compliance. Our training is practical, emotionally engaging, and grounded in real clinical experience. We don’t just tell people what trauma-informed practice looks like — we help them feel it, understand it, and apply it in the places they work every day.
We work with individual schools, multi-academy trusts, local authority teams, residential settings, and third-sector organisations. All training can be delivered on-site, virtually, or as part of a longer multi-session programme — and every package can be tailored to the specific needs, context, and existing knowledge of your team.

Four core training
programmes
Each programme is available as a standalone session or as part of a longer multi-cohort development journey. All are CPD accredited and delivered by clinical practitioners.
Trauma-Informed Practice
A comprehensive introduction to trauma-informed approaches for education and care settings. This programme equips staff with a deep understanding of how adverse childhood experiences shape development, behaviour, and learning — and what they can do differently as a result.
Behaviour as Communication
This programme fundamentally shifts the way staff think about and respond to behaviour. Rather than viewing challenging behaviour as something to manage or punish, participants learn to read what the behaviour is communicating — and respond in ways that are safe, relational, and genuinely effective.
De-escalation & Crisis Response
Practical, skills-based training for staff who regularly work with young people in high-risk or crisis situations. Participants develop confidence in recognising escalating distress, using de-escalation techniques effectively, and knowing when and how to access additional support.
Safeguarding & Mental Health Crisis
Specialist training for designated safeguarding leads, pastoral staff, and senior leaders. This programme covers safeguarding responsibilities in the context of mental health presentations — including self-harm, suicidal ideation, exploitation, and complex multi-agency scenarios.
Training built
around your team
No two organisations are the same — and off-the-shelf training rarely lands the way bespoke provision does. We work closely with schools, multi-academy trusts, local authorities, and other organisations to design training programmes that reflect the specific context, challenges, and existing knowledge of their teams.
Whether you’re looking for a single INSET day, a rolling programme across multiple cohorts, or a whole-school development journey spanning a full academic year, we can build it with you.

- Increased staff confidence & competence
- Reduced exclusions & behavioural incidents
- Improved staff wellbeing & retention
- More consistent whole-team approaches
- Stronger safeguarding culture
- Better outcomes for the young people involved
In the words of the
schools we’ve trained
“The trauma-informed training Evolve delivered to our whole staff team was outstanding. It completely shifted how we think about behaviour and has already changed how we support our most vulnerable pupils. We’ve had staff tell us it was the best CPD they’ve ever received — and we’ve already booked a follow-up session.”
